Check in to D’Angleterre Copenhagen

Since my first visit to Copenhagen about 8 years ago, I have promised to come back. At the time, I was in my early 20s and travel looked (very) different to what they were doing now. At the time, Copenhagen was one of the most expensive cities in Europe (it hasn’t really changed!), but as I grow up and grow into life, I can enjoy all of these cities. And not only did my budget change, but my interests changed too. My days in Copenhagen didn’t feel long at all. But alas, my time was limited to just a few nights in Copenhagen and visited Dangreter, the best five-star hotel in Copenhagen.

Stay at D’Angletre in Copenhagen

You ask Dane and they know exactly where to find d’Angletre in Copenhagen. It has a long list of famous guests, including royalty (of course!), and in fact, the hotel is not only far from the royal palace itself, but only about 100 metres from Copenhagen’s most visited landmark, Nyhaven, which is what precedes its reputation.

It’s probably not surprising that my expectations were high before I arrived. As I took a flight in Paris to the Danish capital, a wave of excitement wiped me out.

It has been years since I visited Denmark (all eight of them), and I wanted to see the city with a new, trained eye. Since I visited many years ago, I have been traveling to more cities and countries. Because travel had become my full-time career after that.

Arrived in England

This may surprise you, but in reality it is much easier, faster and more economical to arrive at a Metro hotel. And you can forget Uber – the city doesn’t have it. A better way to get an introduction to the town than to feel like a local and take the subway to town. The metro station takes just 15 minutes to arrive from the front of the hotel, just 30 meters from the lobby. And if you have luggage, don’t be afraid. There are escalators and lifts, both at the airport metro (where you’ll ride) and at the town’s metro station (on your arrival in Copenhagen).

After a short check-in, I walked the road to my room – Room 103 – overlooking the square and took in an unparalleled view of the city. I didn’t know that, but this view and the private balcony it owned were where I spent each morning, and I saw cyclists rushing through the past and awakening the city as workers were busy passing through the crowd. You don’t even need to get a Nespresso and leave the room!

Inside the suite

Only the suites head towards the square and offer views of the city, so you might consider diving into an upgrade and making the most of your stay. From your private balcony, you can wake up and feel the heart of the city’s heartbeat before leaving your room.

The suite has a huge wardrobe with plenty of drooping space, and at the entrance to the suite there is a full-length mirror that is convenient for outfit checking before heading out that day. We also had a sitting area (with a bottle of foam on arrival), a coffee station, a work desk, a luxurious queen bed, and an oversized bathroom with both a bathtub and shower.

Around the hotel

During your stay, take some time to go to the basement and experience the hotel spa. The hotel has the only indoor heated pool of any hotel in Copenhagen, so the spa experience is truly part of their specialty products. Treatments are available at The Amazing Space Hotel Spa, but as good as asking me about a visit to the heated pool and sauna.

Breakfast is served daily at the Marchal restaurant. This is an idyllic peer into the busy streets and is a great place to see in the morning. The breakfast spread covers all the bases and then covers some, including bilcher muesli, cured meat and cheese, scrambled eggs and sides, Danish pastries, smoothies, health shots, all jams and spreading your heart’s desires!

Deg and Marchal

Undoubtedly, the highlight of my stay was the lunch reservation I made at the Marchal restaurant. This Michelin Star restaurant is one of the best dining experiences in the city, so arrive hungry and prepare yourself for a trip to local flavours and delicacies!

My meal was a journey with fresh truffles and warm Gruyere cheese (Dealious is an understatement!) to asparagus and poached egg mains followed by the most enjoyable eggs at the Lemon Merenue Tart. Of course, Petit Four is not over!

Book your stay

For the best room rates, Book directly at the hotel. If you are looking for a room facing a square (with a glimpse of Nyhaven), you will need to book a suite and request a balcony heading towards the square at level 1.

If you want to visit the hotel without staying there, you can book a table at Marchal (the perfect place for a long lunch), or a treatment at the hotel spa called Amazing Space (located underground). In the lobby you can break the day by stopping by drinks and hot chocolate.
